Registration and all registration specific inquiries should be directed to GrastonTechnique. \n  \n\nAbout This Course\nCourse instructor: Dr. Ryan Lystad\, DC \nRyan specializes in a hands-on approach to adjusting the spine\, and focuses on prehab and rehab exercises. He uses Function Movement Screening\, FMS\, and SFMA (Selective Functional Movement Assessment) to identify asymmetries and imbalances of potential areas that might become injured. Ryan also specializes in golfers utilizing the TPI (Titleist Performance Institute) system. \nRyan has been a GT Instructor since 2014. Dr. Lystad has always been a supporter of athletics and sports\, specifically rugby. He played collegiate rugby for 4 years with MSUM. While in chiropractic school\, he had the privilege of playing on the elite men s team for Life University. In Denver\, his passion for rugby brought him the opportunity to work with the Denver Barbarian Rugby Football Club. \nRyan attended Life University for his Doctor of Chiropractic degree. Dr. Lystad and his wife opened their own chiropractic practice\, Innovative Chiropractic Center\, and run it together. \nCourse objectives: \n\nAdvance knowledge of GT examination procedures for assessing musculoskeletal dysfunction while introducing the principles of regional interdependence and functional testing.\nEnhance clinical decision-making skills during the application of GT.\nAdvance repertoire of GT interventions for the management of musculoskeletal dysfunction/mechanical pain.\nDevelop a higher level of skill acquisition for utilizing GT while introducing movement\, resistance\, weight bearing\, and provocation patterns to treatment.\nReview major GT concepts covered in the Essential course (eight fundamental strokes\, ergonomics\, scar & edema techniques\, physiology of GT\, if necessary).\nProvide an opportunity for participants to discuss patients that have challenged them since they started incorporating instrument-assisted soft tissue mobilization (IASTM) into their practice.\nIntroduce advanced GT skills incorporating IASTM with movement\, with resistance\, in weight bearing\, during provocation\, and with therapeutic exercise typically prescribed for common musculoskeletal pathologies.\nReview selected case studies that illustrate advanced clinical applications of IASTM.\nShare most recent research findings pertaining to IASTM.

Trevor is a center manager in an outpatient orthopedic setting for VibrantCare Rehabilitation. As a physical therapist with more than 15 years of experience\, Trevor is skilled in the treatment of musculoskeletal dysfunction\, and also enjoys working with industrial injuries\, chronic pain and postural dysfunction. As a runner\, he is passionate about both preventing injury and restoring function as quickly as possible after injury. Trevor takes pride in providing quality education in the clinic\, in the profession\, and in the community. \nIn the clinical setting\, he trains multiple physical therapy students each year\, and also works as a teaching partner for the Dignity Family Practice Residency Program where he trains physicians during their orthopedic rotations. In the community\, he works with Rocklin Youth Soccer Club\, providing athlete assessment and team education on sports performance and injury prevention. He also has provided lectures on Back Safety for UPS and the Yolo County Health Department. \nTrevor has been a GT instructor since 2010. Trevor received a Bachelor’s degree in physiology\, with a minor in exercise physiology\, from University of California Davis and a Master’s in physical therapy from Western University of Health Sciences. \n  \nThe primary objective of the Essential course is to develop an understanding of GrastonTechnique® Therapy (GT) and how to apply it into the full spectrum of musculoskeletal treatment approaches. The course also instructs clinicians on the proper use of the instruments. \nBy the end of the training\, you will be able to: \n\nDemonstrate a working knowledge of the GrastonTechnique®\nbrand instruments\, GT treatments\, potential effects\, and benefits.\nIdentify and discuss the indications\, contraindications (relative and absolute) of GT.\nReview and develop a better understanding of soft tissue injury\, healing and potential reactivity to instrument-assisted soft tissue mobilization (therapeutic and adverse).\nDevelop skill and competence in the GT application of IASTM to the major regions of soft tissue.
