About This Course
The course instructor for this course is Trevor Roberts. Trevor is a center manager in an outpatient orthopedic setting for VibrantCare Rehabilitation. As a physical therapist with more than 15 years of experience, Trevor is skilled in the treatment of musculoskeletal dysfunction, and also enjoys working with industrial injuries, chronic pain and postural dysfunction. As a runner, he is passionate about both preventing injury and restoring function as quickly as possible after injury. Trevor takes pride in providing quality education in the clinic, in the profession, and in the community.
In the clinical setting, he trains multiple physical therapy students each year, and also works as a teaching partner for the Dignity Family Practice Residency Program where he trains physicians during their orthopedic rotations. In the community, he works with Rocklin Youth Soccer Club, providing athlete assessment and team education on sports performance and injury prevention. He also has provided lectures on Back Safety for UPS and the Yolo County Health Department.
Trevor has been a GT instructor since 2010. Trevor received a Bachelor’s degree in physiology, with a minor in exercise physiology, from University of California Davis and a Master’s in physical therapy from Western University of Health Sciences.
The primary objective of the Essential course is to develop an understanding of GrastonTechnique® Therapy (GT) and how to apply it into the full spectrum of musculoskeletal treatment approaches. The course also instructs clinicians on the proper use of the instruments.
By the end of the training, you will be able to:
- Demonstrate a working knowledge of the GrastonTechnique®
brand instruments, GT treatments, potential effects, and benefits. - Identify and discuss the indications, contraindications (relative and absolute) of GT.
- Review and develop a better understanding of soft tissue injury, healing and potential reactivity to instrument-assisted soft tissue mobilization (therapeutic and adverse).
- Develop skill and competence in the GT application of IASTM to the major regions of soft tissue.
